Heading to a Decade of Christmas Parties: Which Were Our Favourites?
Ah, Christmas parties at BC. Nothing says "holiday spirit" quite like seeing your coworkers decked out in costumes, jumping on motorbikes, and rapping to unsuspecting neighbours.
As we inch closer to a decade of festive frivolity, we thought it only right to reminisce about our two standout holiday shindigs that still have us chuckling and shaking our heads in disbelief.
The GooseChase Extravaganza
The GooseChase Extravaganza: When Going Rogue Was the Only Option
Picture this: a bunch of overgrown kids (aka our members) armed with smartphones, a hunger for victory, and a willingness to embarrass themselves in public. Enter GooseChase, an app designed for scavenger hunts that promises interactive experiences and endless fun. But because we’re BC, simply following the app’s suggestions wasn't quite wild enough. Nope, we went rogue.
For a couple of years, the GooseChase was our go-to event. We divided everyone into teams, partnered up with significant others, and each team chose a unique dress-up theme. The pre-hype was electric. Suddenly, the new guy who just joined was best buds with the marketing whiz of the office, all thanks to a shared mission of dressing as pirates or superheroes.
The challenges? Oh, they ranged from the mildly embarrassing to the downright ludicrous. Highlights included team members jumping on the back of motorbikes and serenading our bemused neighbours with impromptu rap performances. Points were awarded for creativity, audacity, and sheer commitment to the cause. All challenges were moved through and accepted with photo/video submission within the App. There were no losers in this game, only epic stories to tell for years to come.
The Legendary Bike Crawl
The Legendary Bike Crawl: Around the World in Five Houses
Next up on our list of legendary Christmas parties is the infamous Bike Crawl. Imagine a pub crawl, but instead of bars, you have five houses, and instead of drinks, you have a full-blown cultural experience at each stop. Our theme for this night of debauchery was globe-trotting, with each house representing a different country, complete with themed snacks and drinks.
The beauty of the Bike Crawl was in its simplicity and the level of involvement from everyone. Each house host went all out, transforming their living room into a mini-embassy of sorts. We had tequila and tacos at the "Mexico" house, tapas and sangria at the "Spain" house, and you get the picture.
Cycling between houses added an element of adventure (and a slight challenge after a few drinks). The shared experience of hosting and participating made it a true community event. It wasn’t just a party; it was an odyssey. And let’s be honest, any event that involves dressing up, hopping on bikes, and consuming international delicacies is a win in our books.
Reflecting on a Decade of Merrymaking
As we look back on these memorable moments, it’s clear that the best Christmas parties are the ones where everyone is involved, the spirit of fun and camaraderie is palpable, and there’s a healthy dose of silliness. Whether it’s rapping on doorsteps or biking through the night, our holiday bashes are a testament to the incredible community we’ve built together.
Here's to many more years of outrageous costumes, bizarre challenges, and unforgettable memories. Bring on the next decade of BC Christmas parties – we’re ready for whatever wild, wonderful plans lie ahead!
